with intention,
equity by design

Goals

The main goal of this webpage is to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where healthcare providers, researchers, advocates, and individuals of the communities experimenting disproportionate risk of HIV work together to share knowledge, best practices, and resources for increasing the adoption of HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).

Our specific goals are:

  • To increase awareness and facilitate the adoption of PrEP by public health institutions including sexual health clinics

  • To increase awareness and facilitate the prescription of PrEP among health care providers

  • To increase awareness, accessibility, and uptake of HIV PrEP, empowering communities to make informed decisions and reduce the risk of HIV transmission.

Vision

We envision a future where PrEP is recognized as a fundamental tool in the fight against HIV, with equitable access, education, and support for all individuals, particularly equity deserving communities.

Objectives

Objective 1

Increase Awareness and Education:

Our goal is to build a thorough, evidence-based understanding of HIV PrEP—its benefits and its critical role in HIV prevention—among all stakeholders. We disseminate the insights gathered from Ontario primary care providers through clear, accessible reports, peer-reviewed publications, and targeted knowledge-translation products. These materials will showcase the province’s progress in expanding PrEP adoption and will serve as practical resources for policy-makers, primary care providers, and community partners working to scale up PrEP programs.

Objective 2

Facilitate Knowledge Sharing:

Our goal is to provide a platform for exchanging research, clinical experiences, and community-driven insights to facilitate the adoption of PrEP in public health organizations. Based on our need assessment and evaluation project, we have collected information on barriers facilitators and useful strategies that can help institutions to adopt PrEP services. In this web page you have access to our reports,  publications, and tools to inform a planning and evaluation project.

Objective 3

Support Capacity Building:

Our goal is to provide training and resources to healthcare providers, community leaders, and advocates to enhance their ability to offer, discuss, and manage PrEP effectively within their communities. In this webpage you will have access to a training module of PrEP that will give you the basic tools to facilitate the prescription of PrEP, or just increase your knowledge of PrEP.  Institutions have access to a series of tools that could facilitate their adoption, including medical directives, links to requisitions, and PrEP algorithms.

Objective 4

Strengthen Collaboration and Networking:

Our goal is to establish strong partnerships with other organizations, stakeholders, and communities to build a collective movement toward increasing the uptake and sustainability of PrEP initiatives. We are interested in continuing updating our work and get connected with any individual or organization interested in PrEP.  We hope that this webpage is the beginning of this partnership.

Objective 5

Monitor and Evaluate Impact:

We will systematically track the effectiveness of PrEP services in diverse community settings, combining outcome metrics with stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement. Drawing on our in-depth evaluation of a leading sexual-health clinic, we have assembled a practical toolkit—standardized indicators, data-collection templates, and step-by-step guidance—that other clinics can adapt to assess their own programs or plan new PrEP implementations. These resources will help organizations pinpoint context-specific barriers, select evidence-based implementation strategies, and embed an iterative learning cycle that sustains high-quality PrEP delivery.
