An online module to Prepare you for PrEP

Our team has developed and evaluated an educational module to prepare primary care providers for PrEP. On this page, you can access the module. Please use it and share it—it is free and available to anyone seeking to gain the knowledge and skills needed to identify candidates for HIV PrEP, provide referrals, or prescribe it.

Module overview

In this module, you will be introduced to the foundation of what HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is, and how it can benefit patients. This module addresses PrEP for adult people.

Learning Objectives​​

  1. Describe what PrEP is, how it works, and what it is for.

  2. Identify the medications used in oral PrEP and its efficacy/effectiveness.

  3. Explain why adherence to PrEP is important.

  4. Describe what assessment and monitoring is done in PrEP care.

  5. Provide PrEP counselling to a patient who would initiate PrEP.
